Antique Spectacular at MAC this weekend

"It's like walking into a department store from another era."

That's how show promoter Kimberly Schilling described the upcoming Antique Spectacular to be held at the Mid-America Center Nov. 9-11.

There will be something for everyone at the event, Schilling said, as 40 antique and collectible dealers from all over the United States are expected at the event.

As many as 2,000 antique hunters on a quest to fulfill their collections are anticipated to attend.

"Once you get into it, it is rather addictive," Schilling said of antiquing. "There definitely is a camaraderie among collectors. If they're passionate about something, they seek out people with same interest."

From furniture to jewelry to postcards to a sword from the Civil War, a variety of items will be available for sale, including silver, marbles, china, coins, quilts, dolls, toys, advertising, rugs and vintage textiles.

"There are some unique items," Schilling said. "Just all kinds of different things, you just never know."

Tickets to the Antique Spectacular are $6 per person good for all three days. Parking is free. Hours include 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Antique Spectacular is presented by Melting Pot Productions, Inc. For more information, call (712) 326-9964 or visit www.antiquespectacular.com.
